About The Performing Arts Program

Dance Program

The performing arts program at Jennings has developed into an outstanding program in a relatively short period of time.  Under the direction of Mr. Dello Thedford, one of the leading directors in the St. Louis area, students have opportunities to become involved in band, drum line, middle school choir, women's ensemble and gospel choir, along with dance and theater arts.

Partnerships with performers provide students with exceptional instruction as well as insight into their careers.   Professionals who graciously share their talents are singer and performer Ms. Denise Thimes, pianist and choral instructor Mrs. Sherry Jones, and Mr. Ryan Johnson, a dancer who appeared on the television series, So You Think You Can Dance.

In addition, Mrs. Jennifer Kelch, art teacher at Jennings Senior High School, has created a collaborative relationship between the visual arts, music, and theater programs to expand opportunities for our students.  Venues and publications throughout the community have displayed artwork by Jennings students, many of whom have participated in art competitions around the area.

The major performance of the year will be held on April 3, 2014, at 6:00 PM in the Blance M. Touhill Performing Arts Center on the campus of UMSL.  Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased through Central Office, Jennings Junior and Senior High Schools.  Funds will be used to support the cost of the venue and the District's new scholarship foundation for graduating seniors.  This promises to be one of the best musical and dance performances of the year in St. Louis.
